The TVCNet Velvet Rope Policy – Do You Make the Cut?
From time to time it is a good idea for business owners to review their business plans and marketing plans. Things change (like the economy) and you need to check your business operations to make sure you are guarding against outside forces and aligning yourself with your business objectives so you can see whether or not you are headed in the right direction.
I was reviewing the TVCNet business plan and marketing plan recently. I found a few areas where we are lacking and few areas where can can improve upon. I found some areas where we are on target. While I was reviewing the marketing plan, a section that caught my attention was our Velvet Rope Policy.
The Velvet Rope Policy was adapted from a book called Book Yourself Solid by Michael Port. When it comes to TVCNet, folks are not sure if this is the kind of organization they want to join. That’s understandable. Nevertheless, I thought it was so intriguing that I should share parts of the TVCNet Velvet Rope Policy with you. See how you measure up and decide for yourself if TVCNet is a good fit for you:
…TVCNet will make every effort to seek out and work with independent business-to-business consultants who embody as much as possible the following traits and characteristics:
- Energetic
- Enthusiastic
- Forward thinking/visionary
- Creative
- Taking initiative to be a leader in their respective fields
- Inclusive
- Decisive
…They are eager to associate with other consultants… demonstrate the best way to learn about themselves, their customers, and their marketplace are through brainstorming, collaboration, experimentation, research and a willingness to take risk in order to reach their desired goals and objectives. They also contribute to their community by educating others.
---
By enforcing our Velvet Rope Policy, we hope to create an environment that is energizing, creative and fun. We want to be an organization overflowing with members ready and willing to contribute to the health of our organization by sharing their knowledge and expertise with others and create a profile for themselves among the Boise business community.
The Velvet Rope Policy is not meant to shut out people. Overall, it is applied to make sure those who join are a good fit for the organization. I’ve been a part of organizations where I didn’t quite fit. There’s nothing worse. If you feel you meet these criteria, consider joining us. We would love to have you be a part of our organization and our success.
