Building a Strong Team – The Next TVCNet Meeting (Online)

The concept of team for independent consultants is very different from the concept people working at a company as an employee would have. If you are an employee at a company, you may think of yourself as part of team consisting of your co-workers within a certain business function. Whether you work for yourself as an independent business professional or for a company, the idea of a team can have many different meanings and extends much further than just the people you work with. In the end, regardless of concept, the goal is the same: working with other people toward a common goal while recognizing their strengths and diversity.

I like to think of the members of TVCNet as my team. While we have not formal business or financial connections, we are working toward a common goal – which is to advocate the profession of independent consulting in the Boise area and to find “links” between our respective businesses.  We have different areas of focus, different industries we concentrate on, yet through the diversity of our businesses there are opportunities to support one another and perhaps collaborate on projects.

Our next TVCNet meeting, an online webinar, will focus on defining what makes up a team and give you a new paradigm for team building.  TVCNet and Consilio host Building a Strong Team. Details on the event below:

-----

A strong business requires building and nurturing a strong team. While the definition of team may differ from person to person, it is ultimately about creating an environment in which the whole (team) is greater than the sum of its parts (individuals).

This philosophy to team building is a worthy goal, but how do you make it happen?

In this webinar, we will discuss a set of tools to build strength in your team while at the same time embracing individuality. Specifically, Rochelle DeLong of Consilio and Rick Lierz of Franklin Building Supply will be presenting concepts based on:

  • The Five Dysfunctions of a Team—how to spot them and avoid them.
  • Strengthfinders tools that find core strengths and how to leverage them.
  • A case study of Franklin Building Supply’s use of the Persogenics toolset.

To sign up for the webinar taking place on May 27th at 11:00 a.m., please register here. Once you are registered, we will send you the URL to go to at the scheduled day and time. (We are using DimDim, a webinar service, that does not require any downloads in order to attend.)

If you connect on LinkedIn, be sure to join the Treasure Valley Consultants Network Group for discussions, job postings and meet new people
